Willie L. Howard, 77, of the 1100 block of Sean Drive, died June 19, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Born in Paris, Texas, he was the widower of Grace C. Johnson Howard and was a retired chef with 15 years of service at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He was also a retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran with 20 years service and had served in the U.S. Army prior to serving in the Marine Corps. His decorations include the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Howard, who had no known relatives, is survived by many friends and a very dear friend, Mildred L. Hall of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, by the Rev. F.R. Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake, with full military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
