Alonza Roscoe Drew of the 3900 block of Moseley Drive died June 18, 1997, in St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Portsmouth, he was a retired U.S. Army sergeant with 25 years of service. He was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, Phenix City, Ala., and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Drew; two daughters, Vickie Drew of Richmond, Sharon Thompson of Columbus; a son, Roderick Drew of Columbus; three sisters, Thelma Smallwood of Windsor, N.C., Alberta Bates of Portsmouth, Dorothy Purvis of Norfolk; a brother, William Drew Jr. of Portsmouth; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Drew, and father, William Drew Sr.; his sister, Gloria Goode, and brother, Lloyd A. Drew.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, Phenix City. Burial will be in Phenix City. Sumbry Mortuary, Phenix City, is in charge. Information provided by Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
