MARTHA A. JENKINS

Martha Alice Jenkins, 53, of Shaftesbury Road, died June 21, 1997, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

She was born in Nash County, N.C., raised in Aulander, N.C., and resided in Ahoskie, N.C., for many years prior to her death. She was an interior designer and owner of Martha Jenkins Interiors, Ahoskie; a graduate of University of North Carolina at Greensboro; a board certified member of American Society of Interior Designers; a member of the Board of Visitors of Chowan College, Murfreesboro; a member of the Board of Directors of Wachovia Bank, Ahoskie; and a member of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Jenkins; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Claire Jenkins of Charleston, S.C., Emily Lois Jenkins of Chapel Hill; two brothers, Coy B. Bell Jr. of Mebane, N.C., George R. Bell of Raleigh, N.C.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Thomas' Episcopal Church by the Rev. Phillip Glick. Interment will be in Aulander Cemetery, Aulander. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, 424 W. Church St., Ahoskie, N.C. 27910. Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge.
