PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing on an amendment to the Huntersville II Redevelopment Plan that recognizes and adjusts for the impacts of widening Church Street on adjacent properties. Public hearing closed, 6-0. Collins absent during vote.
CONSENT AGENDA The City Planning Commission's application to amend the City of Norfolk Zoning Ordinance, 1992 as amended, to permit juvenile detention centers in designated zoning districts by special exception only.
Recommended action: authorize city clerk to advertise for a public hearing on July 22. Approved.
The Alpha Beta Cappa Day School's aplication to amend The General Plan of Norfolk, 1992, to change the land use designation on property at 7414 and 7420 Hooper St.

An ordinance authorizing the acquition by condemnation of land in the city belonging to the W.B. Shafer III Estate and authorizing the expenditure of $103,450 to acquire it. Approved.
An ordinance accepting a grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and appropriating portions thereof for the Pretrial Services Program and the Local Offender Treatment and Supervision Program. Approved.
An ordinance authorizing the city manager to employ six people in the Local Offender Treatment and Supervision Program as special project employees and providing funds for their salaries. Approved.
An ordinance authorizing the city manager to employ five people in the Norfolk Pretrial Services Program as Special Project Employees and providing funds for their salaries. Approved.
An ordinance authorizing charge off of $451,217.07, uncollectible utility taxes, water and refuse collection, sewer maintenance and stormwater fees for fiscal year 1993. Approved.
An ordinance authorizing the city manager to enter into a right of entry agreement with the state Department of Transportation to construct improvements to St. Paul's Blvd. Approved.
An ordinance to amend and reordain ordinance No. 38,639 titled, ``An ordinance authorizing the application for and acceptance of a $50,449 grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in order to continue funding for the School Based Violence Prevention Services Program'' in order to authorize the acceptance and appropriation of $50,453 in grant funds. Approved.
An ordinance to amend and reordain ordinance No. 38,640 titled ``An ordinance authorizing the application for and acceptance of an $81,500 grant from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in order to continue funding for the Substance Abuse Support Services to Youth Program in order to authorize the acceptance and appropriation of $94,276 in grant funds.'' Approved.
An ordinance approving a $25,000 grant from the Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department, appropriating said funds, and authorizing the hiring of an environmental specialist as a special project employee under such program grant. Approved.

An ordinance appropriating $121,846 provided by the Virginia Department of Social Services and Sentara Health System for employment of three special project employees in the Division of Social Services at Sentara Health System. Approved.
An ordinance appropriating $98,593 to employ three eligibility workers of the Division of Social Services at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. Approved.
A resolution approving the proposed location and major design features of Project 0060-122-F02, PE-101, RW-201, C-501, B-602; requesting the commonwealth of Virginia acquire all necessary rights of way; and authorizing the execution of all necessary railroad and utility agreements.
