IRVIN C. EVANS SR.

Irvin C. Evans Sr., 80, of the 1700 block of South Woodside Lane, died June 27, 1997, in a local hospital.

Born in Poquoson, Va., he was a commercial fisherman for 60 years. He was a member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church and its Methodist Mens Club. He was also a superintendent of Sunday School, church trustee and member of the board. He was the last surviving Lynnhaven commercial fisherman and was also a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys L. Evans; a daughter, Avis Hodges of Virginia Beach; a son, I.C. Evans Jr. of Roanoke, Va.; and a granddaughter, Paige M. Evans of Los Angeles, Calif.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Manning B. Harrell and the Rev. H. Randolph Arrington. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ocean Park Fire Department, Scott Memorial United Methodist Church or to Chesapeake Beach Rescue Squad. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
