Virginia Louise Overton Oliver, 71, of the 800 block of Cabarrus St., died Friday June 27, 1997, in Chowan Hospital.
A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Oliver was a daughter of the late Lloyd Edward Overton Sr. and Willie Mae Madre Overton and the widow of John H. Oliver Sr. of Edenton.
Mrs. Oliver was a retired secretary with Byrum Implement Co. She was a member of Edenton Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, the E.L. Wells Circle and the Senior Adult Club. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Surviving other than her husband is her daughter, Mrs. Gayle O. Gieseke and her husband, Lowell of Edenton, N.C.; her son, John L. ``Buddy'' Oliver and his wife, Wanda of Edenton, N.C.; two sisters, Willie Mae Wilson and Kathleen Lane, both of Edenton; a brother, Lloyd E. Overton Jr. of Edenton; five grandchildren, Connie Gieseke, Stephanie Oliver, John L. Oliver Jr., Tony Gieseke and Douglas Oliver; and a grandson, Tyler Oliver.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evans Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Kenneth Word. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Edenton Baptist Church Van Fund or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends at the home of Lowell and Gayle Gieseke, 401 N. Broad St., Edenton. Evans Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
