Arlene Gunvalsen Williams, 68, died June 27, 1997, in a local hospital.
A housewife and Tidewater resident since 1956, she was a part-time data entry clerk with Communique, Inc. She was a Cleveland, Ohio, native and a Lutheran. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a former league secretary of the Little Creek Tuesday Night Boxing Mixed Bowling League. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her husband, Doug Williams; two daughters, Sharon Smith and her husband, Clif, and Susie Collins and her husband, Glenn, all of Virginia Beach; twin sons, Brett Williams and his wife, Bonni, of Virginia Beach and Brian Williams and his partner, Robert White, of San Diego; brother, Norman Gunvalsen and his wife, Nancy, of Sun City, Calif.; two granddaughters, Kristi Richards and Brittany Williams, both of Virginia Beach.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Pastor Randy Goode. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends following the funeral service at the home of Sharon and Clif Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Khedive Shrine Temple Transportation Fund, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23320, which provides for transportation for local patients to the Shrine Hospitals for Children.
