Mattie E. Barnes, 91, of the 6200 block of Tappahannock Drive, died June 28, 1997.
Mrs. Barnes, a homemaker, was born in Harnett City, N.C., and was the widow of Ralph N. Barnes. She was a member of Norview Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Boyd Johnson of Charleston, S.C., Samuel Thea Johnson of Goldsboro, N.C., and Robert L. Johnson of Virginia Beach; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other loving friends and family members.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel, by the Rev. Vernon Murray. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that donations be made to the Norview Presbyterian Church General Fund, 1066 Norview Ave., Norfolk.
