JOHN H. PARKER SR.

John Henston Parker Sr., 56, of the 1400 block of Gort Court, died June 29, 1997, in his residence.

A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late John Boykins and Emily Parker. He had retired from Norfolk State University, where he had earned his bachelor of science degree. He was a past member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church, Suffolk.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sonja Parker; two sons, John Parker Jr. and Michael Parker, both of Portsmouth; a daughter, Daphne Eaton of Chesapeake; two brothers, Alvin Parker and Ray Parker, both of Suffolk; a half-brother, Henry Peebles of Suffolk; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family relatives.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Union Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. Naomi Chambers. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Portsmouth. The family will be at Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
