VERNON L. ELLIOTT

Vernon Lee Elliott, 85, of the 4000 block of Ahoy Drive, died June 29, 1997, in Harbour Point Medical Rehabilitation Center, Norfolk.

Born in Norfolk County, he was the widower of Virginia Elliott and a retired landscaper of Wynn's Nursery with 20 years of service. He was also an aircraft cleaner for the Norfolk Naval Air Station for 18 years. He was a past member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth.

Survivors include his wife, Doretha Elliott; three daughters, Brenda Roberts, Carole King, both of Portsmouth, and Vanessa Norfleet of New Jersey; five sons, James Elliott and Vernon Elliott, both of Chesapeake, Jesse Elliott of Richmond, Ronald Elliott and Eric Elliott, both of New Jersey; a sister, Eleanora Davis of Maryland; and a host of grandchildren, relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Arceleous Elliott Jr. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Thursday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
