KENNETH A. AUNCHMAN SR.

Kenneth A. Aunchman Sr., 71, died July 1, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Middlebury, Vt., he was the widower of Gae L. Aunchman. He retired from the civil service military sealift command with 37 years service. He was also employed with Gallop Bus Lines. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and the Mens Club of the church and had served on the board of directors of the St. Matthews Credit Union. He was was also member of Knights of Columbus, St. Matthews Council (NU)10601, International Order of the ALHAMBRA PADUL CARAVAN (NU)69. Mr. Aunchman was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Navy Armed Guard.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth A. ``Chuck'' Aunchman Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Chesapeake, Vernon L. Aunchman and his wife, Margaret of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Shaw of Winooski, Vt.; two brothers, Lawrence Aunchman of Burlington, Vt.; Walter Aunchman of Punta Gorda, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kenneth W. Aunchman of Blacksburg, Angela Aunchman, Alicia Aunchman, Theresa Aunchman, all of Virginia Beach, Shaun Aunchman and Kristin Aunchman, both of Chesapeake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church by Fr. Dwight E. Shrader. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the curch. The family will receive friends at his residence. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling arrangements.
