SETTING FOOT ON SOLID GROUND AGAIN

ILLUSTRATION: LAWRENCE JACKSON photos/ The Virginian-Pilot

Above, Rachel Johnson gets a hug and kiss from her husband, Lt. Joel

Johnson, Saturday at Norfolk Naval Air Station. The Johnsons have

not seen each other for four months because Joel has been deployed

on the Inchon, a mine countermeasures support ship. His first

response to Rachel, who is seven months pregnant, was, ``You don't

look so pregnant.''

At left, Lt. Chris Treacy, a helicopter pilot with a helicopter mine

countermeasure squadron, holds his son Connor, 3. About 200 crewmen

from the mine countermeasure group were airlifted to Norfolk for

reunions with family members. This was the first time Treacy has

been separated from his family for a deployment.
