LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - NORFOLK

Persistence appreciated

I want to take the opportunity to publicly thank a couple of kind and persistent young men. On June 22, they persuaded me to allow them to help me with my disabled car. One gentleman left after I turned down his help and came back insisting on helping me. He pushed my car across the two lanes of the exit ramp (coming off I-264 onto Ballentine) and the other young man used his car to jump my battery until my car started.

Neither gentleman left until assured that my car was going to continue to run. How kind of them to take time out of their busy schedules to come to my aid. After an hour and a half in the heat and humidity, I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't get their names.

God bless you both. He saw your kindness and won't forget the help that you rendered to one of his children.

To all those who volunteered to call, and especially all the guys from Dry Dock, thank you. Since the ramp is in the State Police's jurisdiction, a Norfolk police officer had called them, but I guess they were occupied elsewhere.

I am glad these two guys were so insistent. I didn't think a jump would get the car started again, but it did and allowed me to get home. Later, the dealer towed it in and replaced the generator assembly (alternator) under my extended warranty, and all is well.

This disabled veteran says thanks again to my good Samaritans. I know that God has a special blessing in mind for you and yours.
