WE FALL TO PIECES each time we hear Jessica Welch singing the songs of Winchester's own Patsy Cline in ``Always . . . Patsy Cline.'' It's back for an encore by Virginia Stage Company at the Wells Theatre, Monticello Avenue and Tazewell Street in downtown Norfolk.

Tonight's preview at 8 p.m. is pay-what-you-can night. The show runs through Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Tickets: $22 to $32. Call 627-6988, Ext. 314.

COUNTRY MUSIC stars don't get much brighter than Tim McGraw, who rates as something akin to a supernova. ``Everywhere,'' his new album, debuted at No. 1 last month in Billboard and has stayed there since. It's also settled into the Top 10 on the pop charts. The first single, ``It's Your Love,'' set the pace, logging more than two months and counting in the top spot. He's got a bunch of other hits, too. Hear them Saturday at 3 p.m. at Norfolk's Harbor Park. Gates open at 2. Tickets: $22.50 and $25 reserved, $35 for special field seats, plus service charge. MONDAY

THAT SILLY CRUISE ship in ``Speed 2'' isn't the wildest trip of the summer. Check out the puppet-boy's journey in the belly of the whale in ``Pinocchio.'' The summer show, complete with song and dance, is presented by American Family Theater, as part of the Y.E.S. Youth Enrichment Series at Virginia Beach Pavilion Theater. 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday.
