EX-COX, ODU PLAYER MCHUGH TO COACH THE ABL'S STINGRAYS

Maura McHugh, a graduate of Cox High School and Old Dominion University, has been named head coach of the American Basketball League's Long Beach StingRays.

McHugh, 44, played at ODU from 1971-75. The last two years at ODU she was a teammate of Wendy Larry, current coach of the Lady Monarchs.

McHugh went on to coach the women's teams at Oklahoma and Arizona State. She coached at Oklahoma from 1981-87, during which she accumulated a 142-70 record. She then coached from 1988-93 at Arizona State, where her teams were 84-84.

Since 1993, McHugh has served as executive director of The Business Council For Alcohol Education in Phoenix. ILLUSTRATION: Photo

accumulated a 226-154 record from 1981-93.
