SARAH J. CONYERS

Sarah Jane Conyers, 66, of the 1300 block of Fairway Drive died Thursday, July 10, 1997, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Conyers was a native of Jackson, Mich., and was the daughter of the late Ford William and Phyllis Brockie Chapman. She was a graduate of Albion College in Michigan and was a teacher in the Norfolk school system from 1962 to 1995. She was a member of First Christian Church, Norfolk; the ADK teaching sorority; the Education Association of Norfolk and the National Education Association.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Rich Conyers; two daughters, Mary Belinda Scaffo of Washington, D.C., and Kathleen Anne Weaver of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Thomas Ford Conyers of Danville, Va.; two sisters, Anne Merrill and Judith Fortin, both of San Diego; and six grandchildren.

There will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, July 14, 1997, at 2 p.m. in the Christian Church, Diamond Springs, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Jack S. Austin. Arrangements were made by Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Portsmouth-Chesapeake unit, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
