Hugh Willis ``Buck'' Smith, 61, of the 1000 block of Brooklyn Ave. died July 7, 1997, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was a native of Princess Anne County and was predeceased by his father, Rufus Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Olivia Smith of Philadelphia; four daughters, Clarissa Smith of Atlanta, Audrey Valentin of Norman, Okla., Dorothy Smith of Philadelphia, Rita Smith of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; three sons, Hugh W. Smith Jr. and Theophlous Smith, both of Virginia Beach, Dwight Smith of Philadelphia; his mother, Ruth Lee Shaw of Virginia Beach; a sister Elva Joyce Walker of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Frank L. Smith of Virginia Beach and Malachi Smith of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; sister-in-law, Geraldine Smith of Virginia Beach; and a host of other relatives and friends; Bishop Larry Shaw of Hinesville, Ga., Rory Shaw of Alabama, Donnell Shaw of Lansing, Mich., Anzella Jackson of Asheville, N.C., Linda Shaw and Cynthia Shaw, both of Hinesville, Ga., Celesta Shaw of Virginia Beach, James Shaw of Chesapeake, Daisy Mitchell, Edward Shaw and Evelyn Moore, all of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be noon Monday at St. Stephen C.O.G.I.C., Virginia Beach. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will be receiving friends at P.G. Thomasson Funeral Services Inc. for visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. today. ILLUSTRATION: photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
