JOHN E. WINDLEY

Mrs. John Etta Windley, 88, formerly of the 1400 block of Elm Ave. died July 11, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Chowan County, N.C., she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest L. ``Pete'' Windley and had retired as a dietitian from the Norfolk Public School System. She was a member of the Elizabeth River Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Mrs. Windley was a woman of great integrity, and her life was a testimony to her religious faith.

Survivors include her foster son, James F. Windley, and his wife, Margaret, of Portsmouth and their daughter, Julie Windley; sister, Virginia B. Windley of Gates County, N.C.; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Bob Skeens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
