VIRGINIA BEACH
On June 19, about 8:30 a.m., a woman was sexually assaulted near Big Charlie's Truck Plaza in the 5700 block of Northampton Blvd.
She had been abducted from the area and forced into the woods, then assaulted. She was able to escape and jumped into a lake. Someone called police.
The suspect is described as black with a medium complexion, in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He had short, curly hair and wore black denim pants, a red T-shirt, black tennis shoes, and a black knit cap.
He might have a bite wound on the right side of his neck.
Norfolk
On June 19, about 5:30 a.m., a home in the 8800 block of Chesapeake Blvd. was robbed and a Norfolk woman was abducted and murdered.
Two masked men with guns broke into the home, and two occupants escaped. When police arrived, they discovered that the third occupant, Tiffany Woods, 20, and her car were missing. The home had been ransacked.
That evening, police recovered Woods' white Nissan Maxima parked behind some apartments in the 3700 block of E. Princess Anne Road.
Woods' body was found on June 22 in a stolen blue van parked in the 200 block of Tunstall Ave.
The cause of death has not been released for investigative reasons.
Portsmouth
On June 20, about 4 p.m., the Navy Yard Credit Union the 5100 block of George Washington Highway was robbed.
The robber ordered a teller to put money in a paper bag. After receiving money, he fled.
He is described as white, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds.
He had strawberry blond or reddish hair and was possibly balding on top. He was last seen wearing sunglasses and a large red- and blue-striped shirt.
Hampton
On July 1, the High's Ice Cream store in the 2500 block of W. Mercury Blvd. was robbed.
The robber, a man who wore a mask, pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied.
The robber fled and drove off on Greenwood Drive in a small, light blue or gray vehicle driven by a second man.
The gunman is described as black, with a medium complexion, and 6 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build. He wore a yellow T-shirt, khaki work pants and pantyhose over his head.
The driver is described as black, light-skinned and in his early 20s. He had short hair, a medium build and wore a shirt with red stripes.
Newport News
Police are seeking the identity of vandals who have been spray-painting property.
The incidents of graffiti have been citywide and involve the destruction of thousands of dollars' worth of city-owned and private property. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
