MARY G. WILLIAMS

Mary Gentry Williams, 86, of Sunrise Retirement Community died peacefully Saturday, July 12, 1997, in her sleep.

She was a native of Person County and the daughter of the late Eddie Thomas and Rose O'Brient Gentry. Mary was the wife of the late George D. Williams Jr. of Gatesville, N.C. She worked in the N.C. Public Schools as a teacher for 30 years, serving in the Allensville School in Person County, Sunbury School in Gates County and Samarcand School in Moore County. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong member of the Methodist and Episcopal Church, most recently attending St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Raleigh.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary W. Marino, and a son, George D. Williams III, both of Raleigh; sisters, Ella G. Gibson of Raeford, N.C.; Edna G. Harkey of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Hulda G. Tracy of East Falmouth, Maine; brother, Ed Gentry of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, George D. Williams IV of Raleigh, Brian S. Williams of Cullowee, N.C., Mary Helen Marino of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Raleigh. The family will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 4523 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gatesville. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements.
