Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer William Edward Burford, 64, passed away July 14, 1997, at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center.
Mr. Burford was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Norfolk, son of the late Mary Larkin Dioquino. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 4809, Norfolk, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 5, and a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Cootie of Grand Pup Tent (NU)2. He served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years.
Surviving are two sisters, Bessie Dioquino Rano of Norfolk and Pearl Dioquino Benjamin of Virginia Beach; a brother, John Samuel Dioquino of Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, with a Veteran of Foreign Wars service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with military honors.
