THOMAS R. COX

Thomas Richardson Cox, 74, of the 1100 block of Tatum Ave. died July 16, 1997, in Suffolk.

A native of Loris, S.C., he is survived by his wife, Louise H. Cox. He was a crane operator at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include a daughter, Cheryl C. Bell of Portsmouth; two sons, Randy S. Cox of Suffolk and Billy T. Cox of Chesapeake; stepmother, Ronie Cox of Loris; three sisters, Letha Mitchell of Plattsburg, N.Y., Elease Graham of Loris and Geraldine Russ of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Paul Cox of Sacramento, Calif., Lamar Cox of Chesapeake, and Cecil and Elden Cox, both of Loris; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Terry Riddle. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
