SUDIE E. STRICKLAND

Sudie E. Strickland, 86, formerly of Chesapeake, died July 16, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Conway, S.C., she was formerly co-owner of Poplar Halls Amoco, Norfolk, and a longtime member of Elizabeth River Baptist Church and member of Women of the Moose South Norfolk Chapter No. 947.

Survivors include her loving and caring husband, Leonard M. ``Tony'' Antonik; son, James Oliver Strickland of Norfolk; four sisters, Frances Porter of Loris, S.C., Allie Britt of Portsmouth, Miriam Sitterson of Conway, S.C., and Adaline Brice of Chesapeake; two brothers, Rufus Elliott of Tampa, Fla., and Frank Elliott of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Jimmy, Sarah, Frank and Linda; several great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Amy, Marc and Troy. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lucille.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Revs. Charles H. Riggs and J.D. Seward. There will be a Moose service conducted at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, today at 7 p.m., where the family will remain until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
