Geneva Satterwhite Beavers, 83, of the 3200 block of Taylor Road, died July 16, 1997, in Suffolk.
A native of Durham County, N.C., she was the widow of Earl Dowd Beavers. She was a retired bus driver for Chesapeake city schools, and a Baptist. She was a member of the Tidewater Artists Association, Elizabeth River Artists and an award-winner of the Irene Leache Memorial Biennial Exhibition at the Chrysler Museum of Art. She was an exhibitor at the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival, Portsmouth Seawall Art Show and the Peninsula Fine Art Center. She studied with Norman Goodwin and Robert Burnell, and she was an artist with exceptional talent as an American folk artist.
Survivors include a daughter, Felcie B. Cowart and her husband, Robert M. of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Ron Rice. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
