[CHESAPEAKE] CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

The Chesapeake City Council met Tuesday and took the following actions, based on a report from the Office of the City Clerk.

Request by James R. Bradford for a rezoning classification of property at the corner of Kempsville Road and Volvo Parkway from Single-family Residential District and Agricultural District to Neighborhood Business District. Voted, 9-0 to continue item to Aug. 19 council meeting.

Request by J. Gregory Dodd for zoning reclassification of property at 1212 McCloud Ave. from General Business to Light Industrial District. Approved, 9-0.

Request by Richard Bartlett/Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority for a zoning reclassification of property formerly Foundation Park/Riverdale area between Campostella Road and Border Road from Residential District, Residential Multi-family District and Neighborhood Business District to Residential District and Conversation Recreation District. Approved, 9-0.

Request by Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority for a street closure of the following roads: (A) Shelter Road (520 feet), (B) Friend Road (250 feet), (C) Heather Road (1030 feet), (D) Pasture Road (1,030 feet), (E) Oxford Road (1,030 feet) and (F) Wagon Road (1,030 feet). In addition, a street closure request for (G) Wingfield Avenue from Parkside Drive north for 570 feet, and (H) Fireside Road from Friend Road to Wingfield Avenue (940 feet). Approved with stipulation and the waiver of fees, 9-0.

Request by Lori Inc./Richard Bell for zoning reclassification of property at 849 Old George Washington Highway from Single-family Residential District to Office and Institutional District. Voted, 9-0 to continue to Aug. 19 council meeting.

Request by Mary Sue Lee for Great Bridge United Methodist Church Daycare at 201 Stadium Drive to revise the existing use permit to allow up to 100 children to attend the daycare facility on any given day. Approved with stipulations, 8-1. Butt voted no.

Request by Tarmac Mid-Atlantic/W.K. Smith for a use permit to stockpile inert concrete for on-site crushing by portable crushing unit at property located east of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River and northwest of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad. Approved with stipulations, 9-0.

Request by Wilmur Burden for True Way Evangelistic Mission Church for a use permit to construct a 19,075-square-foot church at 1731 Mount Pleasant Road. Approved with stipulations, 9-0.

Request by Jeffrey Lundy for Fernwood Farms Day Care for a use permit to construct and operate a 3,200-square-foot day care facility at the intersection of Fernwood Farms Road and Pine Wood Run. Approved with stipulations, 9-0.

Request by Robert S. Miller III/Miller-Stephenson & Assoc. P.C. for a use permit to operate a solid waste management facility to allow an addition (38,250 square feet). Structure to an existing recycling center at 1958 Diamond Hill Road. Approved with stipulations, 8-0-1. Duda abstained.
