LESTER N. PHILLIPS

Lester N. Phillips, 75, of the 3000 block of Yakima Road, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Phillips was born in Suffolk and was the son of the late William A. and Launa Milteer Phillips. He was a graduate of United Television Laboratories. Mr. Phillips was a retired television technician with Price's Inc. and was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Ann Umberger Phillips; his two sons and their wives, William L. and Jane Phillips of Newport News and Robert E. and Robin Phillips of Chesapeake; two sisters, Carrie Lee Hopewell of Portsmouth and Nell McManus of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Alyssia K. Nixon, Robert J. Phillips, Jesse J. Phillips and Devin E. Phillips.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Oaklette United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sebert W. Rorrer. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at other times at 913 Erie St., Chesapeake.
