ACTING ON A TIP, POLICE ARREST MURDER SUSPECT IN DRUG STORE

A trip to the drug store ended up as a trip to jail Sunday for an 18-year-old murder suspect.

Shalika C. White of the 5500 block of Shore Drive in Virginia Beach was arrested without incident about 1:30 p.m. at the Eckerd Drug Store in the 100 block of W. Ocean View Ave. Officers went there looking for her after receiving a tip that she was there, police spokesman Larry Hill said.

She is charged with murder and using a gun while committing a felony.

Her arrest follows the July 2 shooting of Willie Grey, 22, of the 6500 block of N. Military Highway, in his home. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died July 11.

White faces an arraignment hearing at 9 a.m. today in General District Court. KEYWORDS: ARREST MURDER SHOOTING
