James Robert Nash, 78, known to those who loved him as ``Big Daddy,'' formerly of 100 Suburban Parkway, died July 20, 1997, in a local hospital.
Mr. Nash was born in Richmond. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. Powhatan Nash and Ethel Horton Nash of Richmond. Mr. Nash was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Thereafter, he was employed by the Public Works Department at the Norfolk Naval Base. He later became a salesman for Standard Furniture in Richmond. Mr. Nash was a former owner of Ocean View and Hope's Transfer Inc. and owner of Haddaway Florist in Norfolk from which he retired.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Dunville and her husband, Robert Dunville of Richmond; a brother, Richard H. Nash and his wife, Lorraine Nash of Henderson, N.C.; two sons, Richard R. (Ron) Nash and his wife, Sheila E. Nash and their six children, Donna D. and her husband, Robert Eisenhower of Norfolk, Milton J. (Jamie) Price III of Virginia Beach, Richard R. Nash Jr. of Norfolk, Tracy D. Nash of Virginia Beach, Adam A. Price of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Laura E. Price of Norfolk, Mr. James R. Nash's son, James R. Nash Jr. of May's Landing, N.J. and his two sons, Scott Nash and Heath Nash of Cape May, N.J.; four great-grandchildren, Chad and Richard Eisenhower of Norfolk and Justin and Brandon Nash of Cape May, N.J.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by the Rev. Robert Guelich. A graveside service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. for family and friends in the Richmond area. The family will receive friends at the residence of Ron and Sheila Nash, 9545 Selby Place, Norfolk, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
