MARK W. MAPLES CHESAPEAKE

Age: 41

Occupation: Firefighter

Handicap: 3

Favorite course: Cypress Point. It has a great staff, friendly members and a great layout. The 16th and 17th holes provide beautiful views and sometimes some ugly scores.

Lowest score: 67 at Stumpy Lake. I had five birdies, 13 pars and hit every green in regulation.

Clubs: Hogan Apex irons, Great Big Bertha driver, Big Bertha 3 and 5 woods, Slotline putter.

Shot I dread the most: Downhill bunker shot.

My dream foursome: Ben Hogan, Tom Watson, Sam Snead and me.

Biggest golf gripe: Carts and cart paths. Golfers and golf balls would be in better shape without them.

Most memorable shot: A hole in one at Honey Bee playing with my brother and friends. I hit a 7-iron, my brother hit next (another 7-iron) and came within inches of a hole in one.

Funniest thing I ever saw on the course: My partner Pat Ehle throwing his putter 30 feet up a tree at Lake Wright and retrieving it late at night by climbing the tree. ILLUSTRATION: [Color Photo]
