GEORGE E. NOBLES

George E. Nobles, 80, of the 3400 block of Bapaume Ave., died July 22, 1997.

Mr. Nobles was born in Dover, N.C., and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine S. Nobles; two sons, Terry E. Nobles and his wife, Brenda, of Virginia Beach, and W. Clayton Nobles and his wife, Frances, of Norfolk; two sisters, Ellen Wilson Riggs and Gladys Duncan of Newbern, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Lesley P. Nobles of Champaign, Ill., Rebeckah L. Nobles of Virginia Beach and W. Clay Nobles Jr. of Norfolk and Mark Mason and his wife, Susan, of Hedgeville, W. Va. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Luke, Jack, Jim, Wright and Wiley and two sisters, Bette Ormond and Zelphia Powell.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Frank Drake. The family will receive friends at 3413 Bapaume Ave., Norfolk, today from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
