MARVIN GRIFFIN

Firefighter Marvin Griffin, 43, departed this life July 19, 1997, in Richmond.

He was the son of the late Provanzo Griffin Sr. and Fletcher V. Pugh Griffin. He was a native of Suffolk and was a member of Rising St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church, Suffolk.

He is survived by his two sons, Marvin L. Griffin and Brent A. Smith, both of Richmond; devoted fiancee, Marie McCoy; and son, Steven McCoy; two sisters, Ms. Margaret Knight and Ms. Eulah Artis, both of Suffolk; three brothers, Melvin Griffin, Kenneth Griffin, both of Suffolk, and Sidney Holmes of Ann Arbor, Mich.; foster brother, Ricky Smith of Suffolk; and his special brothers, the Richmond firefighters; two uncles, five aunts, a nephew, seven nieces, five great-nieces; four great-nephews; and other family and friends.

A wake service will be held at Mimms Funeral Home, Richmond, today at 6 p.m. A funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Tabernacle Christian United Church, Suffolk, by Elder Dwight Whitfield. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge. The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Margaret Knight, 1341 Devonshire Court, Suffolk.
