HOW DOES ONE DRESS FOR THIS?

ILLUSTRATION: The remnants of Hurricane Danny, which struck the Gulf

Coast last weekend, staged a revival as Tropical Storm Danny on

Virginia Beach's Atlantic Coast Wednesday afternoon. The re-formed

tropical storm dropped torrents of rain, spawned funnel clouds and

tornados, and spread fear and excitement among locals and tourists

alike. By late afternoon, the storm had passed by Virginia Beach

leaving a soggy city in its wake leaving these tourists wearing some

pretty unusual beachwear for the Oceanfront.

This funnel cloud, photographed by tourist Tammy Battreal of

Louisville, Ky., is apparently one tracked from Camp Pendleton State

Military Reservation by the National Weather Service. The cloud

moved north, just off the coast of the resort area, then inland over

the pceanfront area. Battreal took the picture from the balcony of

her room at the Seahawk Motel at 26th Street and Atlantic Avenue,

looking to the northwest.
