EVELYN S. MITCHELL

Evelyn Stallings Mitchell, 78, of the 500 block of Jack Branch Road, died July 25, 1997, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A homemaker, she was a Bertie County native and the widow of James Madison Mitchell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewiston Woodville and the women's missionary union.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Mitchell Henry of Virginia Beach; two sons, Edward Madison Mitchell of Lewiston Woodville and Larry Collins Mitchell of Harrellsville; brother, Joseph E. Stallings of Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Revs. Blake Hayes and Grover Everett. Burial will be in Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lewiston Woodville. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Lewiston Woodville Rescue Squad, Lewiston Woodville, N.C. 27849.
