Thomas Walter Tyler, 62, of the 400 block of W. Jackson St., died July 25, 1997, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Mr. Tyler was a native of Norfolk and a member of Rich Square Baptist Church. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 521 in Manteo. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. and was also a retired jeweler.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Sheffield Tyler; two daughters, Tamela T. Powers of Elizabeth City and Tracey T. Church of Virginia Beach; two sons, Thomas W. Tyler Jr. of Fayetteville and Terry C. Tyler of Virginia Beach; sister, Sallie T. Bracy of Chesapeake; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rich Square Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Rogers. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Garrett Funeral Home, Rich Square, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home.
