Donald Gene Adams, 39, of the 400 block of Linkenborough Drive, died Friday July 25, 1997, at his residence.
Mr. Adams was born in Norfolk and was the son of Randolph Louis and Mary Ruth Slagle Adams of Hertford, N.C. Mr. Adams was a detective with the Virginia Beach Police Department. He was an ordained deacon and an active member of Greenbrier Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Annette Harris Adams of Chesapeake; his daughter, Brandy Jean Adams and his son, Nicholas Ryan Adams, both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Patricia Glass and Beatrice Francis, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Michael Adams of Sellersville, Pa., and Randolph Adams Jr. of Chesapeake.
Mr. Adams was in law enforcement for 14 years and served 10 years as a detective. His work on the Family Trauma Unit and Robbery and Homicide Squads earned him numerous awards. He was a member of the Police Benevolent Association.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Greenbrier Baptist Church by the Rev. Mitchell Harrison. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be today at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m.
