CHARLES K. MUNFORD

Charles King Munford, 88, died July 25, 1997.

A native of Isle of Wight County, Va., he was a retired sailmaker with 37 years of service. He graduated from Maury High School and served in the military with the Coast and Geodetic Survey. He was a member and past master of Doric Masonic Lodge No. 44 and Indian River Masonic Lodge No. 252; past patron of Berkley Chapter No. 52, Order of the Eastern Star; past high priest Ionic Lodge No. 46 Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons; Viry Research Lodge 1753 Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons; Khedive Temple; Greenbrier Council No. 169 Allied Masonic Degree; Emerald Isle Council No. 30; Grand Council AMD; Knights of Templer Grice Commandery No. 16; Knights of Pythias; Knights of Corason; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sheila G. Munford; daughter, Connie M. Sawyer and her husband, Frederick B. Sawyer of North Augusta, S.C.; sister, Mattie V. Holloman of Chesapeake; brother, Daniel J. Munford of Chesapeake; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Paul D. Moore. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Eastern Star Home of Virginia, 3000 Chamberlayne Ave., Richmond, Va. 23227.
