Helen James Brent, formerly of the 300 block of Dinwiddie St., died July 25, 1997, in a local nursing home.
Born in Onancock on the Virginia Eastern Shore, Miss Brent was the daughter of Frank Pierce Brent and Martha Porter Brent, both deceased. A graduate of William and Mary College and the Sorbonne in Paris, France, she was a retired teacher, having taught French and English for many years in the Portsmouth public schools. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She is survived by a number of cousins, including John R. Porter Jr. and Sallie Porter Williams of Portsmouth, Augusta Porter Molnar of Pittsburgh and other cousins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. Please omit flowers. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
