Sadie Vivian White Carley, 76, of Route 5 died Saturday, July 26, 1997, in Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth.

A native of Perquimans County, she was the widow of Clarence Benton White and Joseph F. Carley and the daughter of the late Gertrude Byrum and Will H. Harrell. She was a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara W. Chittenden of Portsmouth; three sons, Benton M. White of Chesapeake, George White of Morrisville, N.C., and Cannon Trim White of Hertford; three sisters, Cornie Cannon of Hertford, Mary Stanton of Portsmouth and Eva Mae Barington of Grimesland, N.C.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Swindell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Melvin Styons officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Wood Cemetery. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
