VIRGINIA A. LANE

Virginia Anderson Lane, 85, died Monday, Jan. 28, 1997, in a local hospital.

Born Jan. 23, 1912, in New Canton, she was a daughter of the late John P. Anderson and Lucy Wootton Anderson.

Mrs. Lane married Edgar L. Lane Jr. Nov. 19, 1934, in Washington, D.C. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage in the fall.

She was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Tidal Wave Chapter No. 9.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar L. Lane Jr. of Charlottesville; three sisters, Lucille A. Carpenter of Portsmouth, Dorothy A. Lawford of Charlottesville, Arline A. Staton of Clinton, S.C.; and many other family members.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Donahue. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the Teague Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
