MARIA ANTONOPOULOS

Maria Antonopoulos, 95, died July 30, 1997, at Lafayette Villa Nursing Home.

Mrs. Antonopoulos was born on the island of Samos in Greece on Dec. 6, 1901. She immigrated to the U.S. when she was 16 years old and established her home in Jersey City, N.J. Her beloved husband, Theodore Antonopoulos, ``Theodore, the Florist,'' preceded her in the attainment of eternal salvation. She was active in the Greek Orthodox Annunciation Church, Jersey City, and was a member of their Philoptohos Chapter where she served as president of the organization, held other positions on the board and was extended a lifetime honorary position. Seven years ago she moved to Norfolk where she had been a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox, Norfolk, as well as a member of Philoptohos.

Her surviving family includes her children and their spouses, Chris and Christina Stratos and George and Mae Antos; her grandchildren and spouse, Mike and Maria O'Hearn, Nikita Vlahopoulos, Katerina Antos and Thea Antos; her great-grandchildren, Casey, Thalia and Alexi O'Hearn.

A funeral will be conducted at Monday, Aug. 4, in Annunciation Church, Jersey City, N.J. She will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, N.J., beside her husband. May she rest in peace.
