HOWARD W. IRVIS JR.

Howard W. Irvis Jr., 54, of the 4700 block of Old Hickory Drive, died July 30, 1997, in his residence.

He was born in Kingston, N.Y. and was a member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk. He was a U.S. Army veteran of 82nd Airborne Cuban Crisis.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Irvis; three daughters, Tabbetha Marie Woodside of Miami, Fla., Adonna Lin of Biloxi, Miss., Monique Irvis of Philadelphia; two sons, Antonine Irvis of Daytona Beach, Fla., Tony Carl Irvis of Philadelphia; mother, Muriel D. Irvis of Statesville, N.C., and father, the Rev. Howard W. Irvis Sr. of Statesville; a sister, Pamela Irvis Hunter of High Point, N.C.; a brother, Fred Irvis of Virginia Beach; and several grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Center Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Statesville, N.C. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery, Statesville. The body was sent from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel to Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, Statesville, N.C., for services and burial.
