Esther S. Williams, 88, of Marian Manor, died Aug. 2, 1997, in Norfolk.
She was born in Plymouth, N.C., and was a member of Carrow Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and the widow of J. Merrimond Williams.
Survivors include a daughter, Amelia W. Smith and her husband, James W. Smith Jr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Lorena S. Farabow of Raleigh, N.C.; and a granddaughter, Stacey D. Smith of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Les Redfern Jr. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
