WILSON R. CARR

Wilson Raiford Carr, 81, of the 27000 block of Duke Meadows Lane, died Aug. 3., 1997, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late Joseph Arthur and Sally Raiford Carr. Lt. Carr was retired from Franklin City Police Department. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church, the Walters Ruritan Club and the American Legion Post (NU)0141.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Cox Carr; a brother, Warren Wesley Carr of Rescue, Va.; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Mount Carmel Christian Church by the Rev. Robert Bennett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
