MARY F. LANNING

Mary F. Lanning of the 200 block of W. Walker St. died Aug. 4, 1997, in Norfolk.

Born in Spokane, Wash., she was the widow of Charles H. Lanning and a retired cosmetologist. Mrs. Lanning was a member of Outer Banks Worship Center, Assembly of God, a charter member of Virginia Country Music Association, the Ladies Order Knights of Pythias. She was also a member of the Thomas A. Baum Senior Citizens Center in Kill Devil Hills.

Survivors include her longtime friend and companion, C.J. Spitz of Norfolk; a daughter, Shirley L. Griffin of Kill Devil Hills; three sons, Lee Lanning, Virgil W. Lanning and Charles C. Lanning, all of Kill Devil Hills; nine grandchildren, Penny Haywood, Bobby Griffin, Crystal Lanning, Scott Noble and Darrell Pritchard of Kill Devil Hills, Candy Lanning of Tennessee, Cindy Lanning of Ohio, Sonya Lanning of Corolla, Brad Noble of Currituck; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by the Rev. David Daniels. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today to receive friends. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
