MORTGAGE COMPANY NAMES WHITEHORNE PRODUCTION MANAGER AND MOORE LOAN OFFICER: Les Whitehorne was named production manager at Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corp. He will be in charge of loan production and has been a mortgage banker for 16 years. Susan Moore was named a loan officer at the mortgage company. She has been in the mortgage banking/real estate field for the past 15 years.

MERIDIAN GROUP EXPANDS TO FORT LAUDERDALE, CHARLESTON: The Meridian Group-Marketing Communications, an advertising and public relations agency based in Virginia Beach, has expanded its operation into Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Charleston, S.C. James Benson, formerly senior vice president of Duane & Associates, an advertising agency in Coral Gables, Fla., will serve as general manager of the Fort Lauderdale office. Jennifer Hazelton, formerly director of public relations for the Charleston Place Hotel, will head up the Charleston office as the agency's tourism and hospitality public relations counselor.

RETIREMENT COMMUNITY NAMES SPIVAK COORDINATOR OF COMMUNITY AND RESIDENT RELATIONS: Charlotte ``Charlie'' Spivak was named coordinator of community and resident relations for both Marian Manor, a retirement community, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Health Care Center, a facility that specializes and deals exclusively with Alzheimer's patients. She will coordinate marketing efforts for both properties and assure a continuum of care for residents. In addition, she will continue to serve as the assistant administrator at Marian Manor.

NORFOLK

AIRPORT SHOWS INCREASE IN TRAFFIC: Norfolk International Airport reported a 6.19 percent increase in passenger traffic for the month of June, with 287,973 passengers. This compares with 271,191 passengers in June 1996. In other activity, 5,102,359 pounds of cargo was shipped through the airport in May.
