George H. Delbridge

PORTSMOUTH - George H. ``Buddy'' Delbridge, 86, of the 100 block of Wilson St., died Aug. 4, 1997, in his home.

He was born in Norfolk County, Va. and was the widower of Mamie Delbridge. He was a member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church, Chesapeake, where he was a member of the male chorus. Mr. Delbridge was a past deacon and member of the Gospel Choir of Little Zion Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

He is survived by eight daughters, Bernice Dancy, Frances Bland, Betty Mitchell, Carolyn Delbridge, Joann Brown, Linda Adams, Celestine Robinson and Joyce Johnson, all of Portsmouth; two sons, William Henry Delbridge of Portsmouth, and James Arthur Delbridge of Philadelphia; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in Trinity Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. O.L. Cromwell II. Burial will be in Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 a.m. today. Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
