Hazel F. Bryant of the 3300 block of Trexler Ave. died Aug. 6, 1997, in Maryview Medical Center.
A native of Murfreesboro, N.C., she was a laundry room attendant retired from the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Naval Regional Medical Center, with 25 years of service. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and a member of the missionary choir; 50 Plus Club; Ladies Usher Board; and the Fellowship Club; and Missionary Society.
She was a member of Martha Chapter No. 10, Order of Eastern Star; Arabia Court No. 23; Daughter of Isis; American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 190; John W. Barnes Assembly No. 8; Order of Golden Circle; and the United Order of Tents, J.R.G.&J.U.; Chrysanthemum Tent No. 480.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Bryant; three daughters, Gayle J. Robinson of Chesapeake, Karen V. Johnson and Pamela J. Howard, both of Portsmouth; son, James Fleetwood of Norfolk; four sisters, Annie E. Vaughan of Hampton, Fannie M. Holton of Virginia Beach, Doris Dozier of Jonesboro, Ga., and Sylvia L. Beale of Alexandria, Va.; five brothers, Jessie C. Beale and Earl L. Beale, both of Virginia Beach, William M. Beale of Olympia, Wash., James L. Beale of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Clifton D. Beale of Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The family will be there from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
