NORMAN V. EDNEY

Norman V. Edney, 85, of the 800 block of Albemarle St., died Aug. 6, 1997, in an Edenton hospital.

Born in Edenton, he was the widower of Bettie Edney. He was a member of Hood Chapel AMEZ Church, Norfolk, the Steward Board, Senior Usher Board, South Hill Lodge (NU)197 F.&A.M. Prince Hall Affiliates.

Survivors include three sons, Norman Edney of Edenton, Norris L. Barber of Chesapeake and Roland Ricks of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Annie Joyner of Norfolk; two brothers, Jimmy Edney of Norfolk, Henry Edney of Portsmouth; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. J.T. Edney of Courtland, Mrs. Maude Edney of Norfolk and Mrs. Elizabeth Edney of Portsmouth; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Edney of Edenton and Mrs. Rosa Ricks of Norfolk; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Hood Chapel AMEZ Church by Pastor Cuffee. The remains will be in the church at 1 p.m. The family will assemble at 8 West Carrington Court, Portsmouth, Cavalier Manor, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
