JOHN T. BARNER

John Thomas Barner, 59, died Aug. 1, 1997.

A sergeant first class in the U.S. Army, he retired with 23 years of service. He was a native of the Twin Pine area of Portsmouth and a Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include three sisters, Jeannie Lowe, Loretta Wilcox Knight and Linda Elliott; three brothers, Curtis Barner, Kenneth Barner and Arthur Barner; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was the son of the late Mable Barner and John Barner.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by Bishop Michael Jackson and Pastor Albert Cowan. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Portsmouth.
