RUTH H. SMITH

Ruth Holloman Smith, 83, of the 900 block of Garfield St., died Aug. 8, 1997, in Maryview Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born in Hertford County, Va., and was a retired self-employed beautician. She was the widow of Robert Howard Smith and a member of St. John Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Eula Mae Porter; two brothers, Joe Henry Holloman of Baltimore, Md. and David Holloman of Ahoskie, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, James Claxton Porter Sr., her mother, Annie Outlaw Holloman and her father, Joe Holloman.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Earls and Elder Michael Porter Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
